Important contract for Green Yard Kleven
Green Yard Kleven in Ulsteinvik has entered into a large contract with the Japanese shipping company NTTWEM to carry out shipyard services on a Marin Teknikk-designed cable ship.
- The contract gives us work from now until well into 2024, so this is good news, and it's great to see that we are succeeding with our strategy, says Hans Jørgen Fedog, general manager of Green Yard Kleven.
Builder for a Japanese telecom company
This is the largest contract in the retrofit segment that has so far been entered into at Green Yard Kleven. NTTWEM is one of Japan's largest companies.
- The customer has gotten to know us through, among other things, references from previous conversions we have carried out. This shows that our strong investment in the retrofit market, and focus on sustainability, quality, and delivery precision has been successful, says Karl Johan Barstad, sales manager of retrofit.
Grieg Shipbrokers has assisted in getting this contract in place.
Cooperation with Marin Teknikk
The ship was designed by Marin Teknikk, who is also responsible for the design of this project. Green Yard Kleven currently has two other conversion projects underway in collaboration with Marin Teknikk.
- The good collaboration between Marin Teknikk and Green Yard Kleven gives us both a competitive advantage through the opportunity to develop good solutions for the customer and a short and efficient project period, says Barstad.
Important contract for Green Yard Kleven
The contract, which is of considerable size, ensures that large parts of the workforce will be engaged in the project until mid-2024, and it also opens the door for new hires.
This has been part of the long-term strategy of Green Yard, and engages in both new build, conversions, and recycling of ships.
- It is the strong shipbuilding expertise of the employees of Green Yard Kleven that makes it possible to offer and win such large contracts as this one. The contract is very important to us and also provides stability for a long time to come. We will start the project immediately, and look forward to a good collaboration with all parties involved not least our new customer NTTWEM, says Fedog.
